Running Assessment
Running Assessment
At Miami Physio Falcon, we conduct detailed running assessments that combine clinical expertise with current research to enhance performance and reduce injury risk.
Our physiotherapists evaluate how your body moves, manages load, and adapts to running demands supporting runners at every level of experience.
The assessment focuses on three key areas: load capacity, running mechanics, and symptom response.
Your physiotherapist will begin with a discussion about your training history, current symptoms, and running goals. This helps determine how much running your body can currently tolerate and what needs to be adjusted or progressed.
Tests we do include single leg squats, hops, or calf raises which are used to assess strength, control, and tissue capacity.
A running gait analysis is performed using treadmill or ground observation, often supported by video review.
Your physiotherapist will look at factors such as stride length, knee alignment, trunk posture, cadence, etc. The aim is not to create a “perfect” running style, but to identify movement patterns that may be contributing to overload, inefficiency, or pain.
Equally important is understanding how your symptoms respond to running and recovery. Tracking your comfort and response to training helps guide the pace of rehabilitation and ensures that progress is sustainable.
Based on the findings, you will receive a strength and conditioning plan and, where appropriate, gait retraining strategies. These may include feedback, cues, or video review to support long term improvements in movement and performance.
A running assessment provides clear, evidence based guidance to help you optimise performance, manage training load effectively, and reduce injury risk ensuring you can return to running confidently and safely.
